Committed to the preservation and faithful stewardship of Grapevine’s historic resources, the Grapevine Heritage Foundation also has its roots in the advocacy, education and outreach to the citizens of the community as well as the thousands of visitors who explore our city each year.

When the Palace Theatre, built in 1940, was threatened with closure by bankruptcy in 1991, the Grapevine Heritage Foundation acquired the Art Modern building situated prominently on Main Street and saved it from ultimate demolition. The Palace Theatre along with the Buckner Cash Grocery Store, also acquired by the Foundation, has been transformed and has an additional performance and meeting facility now known as the Lancaster Theatre. In 1997, the Foundation purchased the 5.2 acre Thomas Jefferson Nash Farmstead, the last and most intact element of Grapevine's 160-year agricultural heritage, saving it from destruction as well as structural deterioration.

Today, the spirit of Grapevine is alive and well thanks to the volunteer efforts of our community and the generous financial contributions of nearly 500 Foundation members, local and regional corporate giving and proceeds from the two annual major downtown festivals -- Main Street Days and GrapeFest. It is the goal of the Grapevine Heritage Foundation to continue to protect, preserve and celebrate the rich history of Grapevine for generations to come.
